Acrylic on Paper

I am excited to tell you about a new series I’ve been working on. I started these acrylic on paper thingies because I wanted something with a very simple approach and I’ve been thinking for a while about painting in acrylic on ungessoed paper as it creates a smooth poster like effect. I have done four in all.

The first one I did 20×14 in

Triad

And the last one:

Morning 10×12

+ Two More

The most famous Rembrandt is in New York City at the Met

I am back from two days in NYC and counting things gained. Many blisters, lots of walking and seeing the most moving painting in all of the world.

Of course the Steins collect, up until June 3rd, was a very enjoyable show and very very large: some of us need espresso breaks half way though just to finish looking at the whole thing consciously. I am very glad I got to see it and some of my absolute favorite paintings in the show are Picassos and Cezannes and a flower vase by Matisse.

However, the most famous paintings are most famous for a reason. Everyone must see Rembrandt at Work (the great self portrait from Kenwood House).

I am not even going to post a photo of it here, I will just tell you where it is in the museum. If you go up the main staircase to the second floor and then make an immediate right, through the glass doors and past a few rooms there will be a sign “Rembrandt this way” and there the painting will be a few more rooms to the right. This Rembrandt is from London on a very special loan, it has been allowed outside of Europe for the first time and it will be up at the Metropolitan Museum of Art until May 20th, 2012.

Before the painting goes back to London, go see it. It is worth it absolutely and many many times over. And don’t just look at the reproduction (and decide its not for you), go see the real thing. You have until May 20th, 2012.
